Excellence Award and Qualification to State Championship

Manistee Catholic Central Robotics has qualified another elementary team to attend this year's State Championship!

Owen and Oliver Kaltunas (4th grade) excitedly received the Excellence Award on Saturday, January 13 at a tournament held at Grand Traverse Area Catholic Schools. Overall, the team ranked 5th out of 34 elementary and middle school teams in Northern Michigan, and placed 3rd in the Finals Division.

The Kaltunas brothers have shown major gains both at the tournaments and in practice. Coach Laura Cameron shared, "I have seen such great improvement in Owen and Oliver's confidence as they work through their second year of MCC's SaberBot VEX IQ Robotics program. They are very independent this season while making crucial decisions about their design, build, and autonomous code. These decisions are showing up in their matches, in the successes of their scores at each new event they attend."

We look forward to Owen and Oliver joining their SaberBot teammates Wyatt Martin and Damon Emerson in Monroe on March 1st and 2nd as they compete with 34 other elementary VEX IQ teams from around the state.
