Lead Early Childhood Teacher

Manistee Catholic Central is in search of a caring, responsible, patient, and kind individual to work within their early childhood education program. The ideal candidate must be willing to commit themselves to our mission of providing Christ-centered excellence in care and education. This position will work closely with and under the guidance of our team of teachers.

This position may work with different age groups of children (6 weeks-12 years of age).

If hired, continued training in Early Childhood Care & Education is a requirement. 

Qualified candidates:

  • Possess or are pursuing a degree in ECE (or related field); hold a CDA; have a Montessori credential and are experienced in the field.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified 

  • Have a passion for and understanding of early childhood development as well as developmentally appropriate practices.

  • Take initiative to help create a calm, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.  

  • Support children in their social/emotional, physical, cognitive and creative growth.

  • Assist children as they discover literacy and math skills and encourage learning to help them feel successful in their school experience. 

  • Be responsible for developing open lines of communication with families and work towards forming strong relationships with their students. 

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs. 

  • Be able to work outside during all seasons. 

Job Duties include:

  • Maintaining a positive and flexible attitude while our program continues to grow.

  • Supervise staff and volunteers in the classroom.  

  • Respect confidentiality of MCC families and staff.  

  • Attend continuing education trainings to complete required hours.

  • Being responsible for basic bodily care tasks for young children.

  • Mentor and give continued feedback to staff, students, and volunteers in the classroom.

  • Help plan teacher-parent orientations and conferences for families.  

  • Organize program activities and field trips. 

  • Be able to keep accurate daily records for each child in their care.

  • Cleaning classrooms throughout the day (wiping down surfaces, cleaning toys, sweeping, and vacuuming when needed). 

  • Singing, playing, talking, and reading with children throughout the day.

  • Facilitating developmentally appropriate play and activities for children under their care.

  • Maintain a comfortable and welcoming environment for children and families. 

  • Be able to assess children’s growth and development.  

  • Other tasks assigned as needed.

Middle School and High School Religion Teacher

Manistee Catholic Central School is accepting applications to fill a teaching position in Religion.  At Manistee Catholic Central we strive to build partnerships with families who value a strong Catholic education, academic excellence and the close personal relationships fostered in our family environment.  We nurture the whole child: spiritually, academically, socially, and physically.   The Classroom Teacher position fulfills the mission of the Catholic school by planning, guiding, and evaluating the learning process of the students in the Catholic school for whom the teacher is responsible within the framework of the school philosophy, organization, and curriculum.  The ideal candidate will be highly dedicated, willing to collaborate with colleagues, and able to inspire and challenge students. 

Duties and requirements:

  • Provides the appropriate learning atmosphere and activities designed to maximize student competencies and skills for intellectual, emotional, physical, social, and spiritual growth toward a successful future.

  • Supports and upholds the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of the school.

  • Models the teachings of the Catholic Church.

  • Supports and adheres to the Code of Conduct and policies and procedures of the school and the Diocese.

  • Maintains confidentiality regarding school matters.

  • Plans for instruction with logically sequenced objectives, based on adopted curriculum and submitted according to the local school policy.

  • Provides appropriate material and resources for students to engage in learning.

  • Maintains current and accurate records inline with school policy.

  • Communicates openly and in a timely manner regarding academic, behavioral, and/or safety concerns with parents routinely.

  • Meets staff development guidelines as set forth by the Diocese/administration.

  • Attends staff meetings as requested. 

  • Demonstrates professionalism in conduct, demeanor and work habits.

  • Willingness to respond to an individuals learning needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Theology, Religion, or a related field

  • Must have State of Michigan Education Certificate or actively enrolled in certificate program.

  • Ability to assess, plan, and implement instruction.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.

  • Ability to connect with students and engage them in learning. 

  • Must be able to maintain composure and avoid inappropriate displays of anger.

  • Ability to monitor students in a variety of locations including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.

  • Must abide by the teachings and doctrinal practices of the Catholic Church and support the mission of the sponsoring parish. 

This position may require:

  • Periods of Standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and repetitive hand movements on a daily basis.

  • Lift and/or carry approximately 20 pounds.

This position will work closely with and under the guidance of other teachers.

This position will work with different age groups of children (6 weeks-12 years of age) depending on where help is needed.

If hired, continued training in Early Childhood Care & Education is a requirement.

  • Have a CDA, coursework in Early Childhood Development, and/or experience is preferred.

  • CPR and First Aid Certified

  • Take initiative to help create a calm, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.

  • Be responsible for developing open lines of communication on with families and work towards  forming caregiving relationships with their students.

  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.

  • Be able to work outside during al1 seasons.

We are looking for an energetic, faith-filled people who can connect with and motivate students in the classroom.
