Manistee River Weir Visit

MCC's 7th and 8th grade students visited the Little Manistee River Weir today. Students released 159 Chinook Salmon that were raised this year through the DNR's Salmon in the Classroom program. This is the first year that MCC has participated in the SIC program. It begins in late October and culminates in May with students releasing the salmon into the river to continue their life cycle. Funds for this program were generously received through a Manistee Community Foundation Grant, which allowed MCC to procure the equipment and materials needed to run the program. A big thank you goes out to the Michigan DNR SIC staff, and Pruess Pets in Lansing for helping make this project possible.
